Race Testimonials
I have done a few Limitless events. They never ever disappoint. The route, as always, had a bit of everything in it - challenging, runnable and scenic. I really loved this route. Support and supplies available at the CP's were exceptional. GPX spot on. We were even blessed with the sun on Saturday. Ellen and her team want everyone to have the best experience and adventures and do all they can to deliver that.
Diane K (Blacks to the Beacons Marathon 18/05/24)
The Blacks to the Beacons 50 was my first Limitless Trails event and it certainly won't be my last! I've done many events over the years and this one stands out as having all the right ingredients to make for a great day out in the hills. There are too many aspects to mention but the number one has to be the team who run these events, they are all genuinely top drawer people with a passion for the outdoors which delivers a relaxed, fun filled, encouraging adventure!
Martin H (Blacks to the Beacons 50M Ultra 18/05/24)
The level of individual care afforded everyone that competes is off the scale. From start to finish and everywhere in between you feel safe no matter if you are front middle or back of the pack.
Gavin W (Blacks to the Beacons 32M Ultra 18/05/24)
This was my first race with Limitless Trails, and it certainly won't be the last. The communication leading up to the race was second to none. I changed from 32 to 50 mile with a week's notice and it's was done with ease.
Lee A (Blacks to the Beacons 50M Ultra 18/05/24)
Thank you for such a brilliant event! Awesome course that really pushed me. The whole event team from RD to people at aid stations, back runners, and the team at the finish were fantastic. Particularly appreciated the ladies in the kitchen at the end who seemed to be delivering anything that people asked for! This event was so well organised, well done guys! I'll be back for another.
Felicity N (Blacks to the Beacons 32M Ultra 18/05/24)
Absolutely amazing event staff, they were all beaming positivity and support and were incredibly helpful at every aid station. Would go and do another Limitless Trails event in a heartbeat!
Alexander T (Blacks to the Beacons 50M Ultra 18/05/24)
Another amazing event from the limitlesstrails team. So much passion and care go into their races. They become like family. Challenging course but very rewarding.
Guillaume D (Blacks to the Beacons 50M Ultra 18/05/24)
This was one of the best ultra events I have taken part in. The team are incredible, providing great support and care before, during and after. The course was awesome and testing in good measure. You can tell the team understands what makes a good event and are committed to making it a success for every single person taking part. The little things go a long way and it wasn’t unnoticed. I would really recommend Limitless Trails and look forward to doing another with them.
Sophie B (Blacks to the Beacons 50M Ultra 18/05/24)
Ran the Half Marathon today and it was faultless. Great team, very well organised and super supportive. Aid station was like a buffet of electrolytes and energy gels with some well earned naughty treats and cakes too. Cannot recommend highly enough!
Gregory B (Blacks to the Beacons Half Marathon 18/05/24)
A fantastic event as always by limitless trails. Course marking so well I only looked at my watch to check HR and how much the Beast of the Beacons was kicking my butt! I would ALWAYS recommend one of their events. Ellen also put up a kids corner which my 3 girls took full advantage of as well as interacting with my family keeping them well informed during the event.
Benjamin W (Beast of the Beacons 40 Miles 6/04/24)
Outstanding event, superb course, organisation and support and to top it all there was an excellent barista and wood fired pizza. Congratulations on a hosting a 5 Star event.
Simon N (Beast of the Beacons 20 Miles 6/04/24)
This is my fifth race with Limitless Trail in the past twelve months and it was another superb event. The organisation is low key but very effective, the team and volunteers are effusive with their help and support and the courses are spectacular. I have already signed up for the next race.
Hans G (Beast of the Beacons 40 Miles 6/04/24)
Drove 3.5 hours back and forth to take part in this race and would immediately do it again. Well organised, well marked, nice trail and plenty of snacks, drinks and food!
Ken V (Beast of the Beacons 10 Miles 6/04/24)
I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and your incredible team for Saturday’s event. Though I know none of you personally, these events feel as though I’m being supported by a group of friends. From the lovely people at the checkpoints filling my flasks for me when I couldn’t feel my fingers, whoever set the flare off at the 30 mile checkpoint which had me giggling and boosted my spirit, to the checkpoint volunteer driving past me at mile 36 with his head out the window shouting encouragement, to the chap with the cow bell and big smile in the rain at the finish, you making me the best cup of tea ever after I got back and that curry was amazing… so many more I could mention.
Emma L (Beast of the Beacons 40 Miles 6/04/24)
This was my first Limitless event and to say I’m impressed is an understatement. I went on my own, and as a female I was quite nervous doing this without anyone I knew, but honestly there was nothing to worry about as everyone was kind, welcoming and helpful. The route itself was incredible - everything I love about trail was in this event. There were spicy mountain climbs, stunning views, wonderful wildlife and lovely snacks! I felt safe, supported, and the route was easily navigated. 10/10, would absolutely do again. Oh, and the support on the finish line was just so delightful, I almost cried! Thank you to all the organisers and supporters, what an incredible day, and I will be back!
Harriet M (Beast of the Beacons 20 Miles 6/04/24)
Absolute first-class event with amazing people supporting it. The atmosphere of the whole day was incredible. I can't rate Ellen and the team at Limitless Trails high enough - it was so good I immediately signed up for the next one in May!
Robbie P (Beast of the Beacons 10 Miles 6/04/24)
These are the best out of all the races I’ve attended. Family atmosphere, you know you’ll alway be looked after, proper food at the aid stations, can’t recommend enough. Just brilliant fun, thank you to all the staff and fellow runners for a brilliant day out in the mountains
Andrew B (Beast of the Beacons 40 Miles 6/04/24)
The event was well organised, checkpoints filled with snacks and such great people! So grateful that the team at Limitless encourage new trail runners, this is only my second time running a Limitless event and a trail run in the Welsh mountains and everyone has been so welcoming and encouraging - never annoyed with me being slow & a beginner. Such a great atmosphere all round. Thank you!
Chelseay M (Beast of the Beacons 20 Miles 6/04/24)
My first longer cani-cross on trails like this with my dog. What a trail it was! Great organisation and such a friendly atmosphere. Was a real tough one for us but with good cut off times and a great team to support we made it round the 10 miles with big smiles on our faces.
Michelle G (Beast of the Beacons 10 Miles 6/04/24)
Unbelievable first ultra with my son, had a great time. Second time out with limitless trails and thoroughly enjoyed it again despite how tough it was lol. Ellen is brilliant and was great at the end in offering food and drink. Limitless trails really stand out from other companies as their running events feel personal and the staff make you feel really welcome.
Jason W (Beast of the Beacons 40 Miles 6/04/24)
Fabulous event with flawless organisation. The course is varied and challenging with amazing views. Expect some mud, steep hills (up and down) and exposure to the elements but nothing too technical and some longer runnable sections. Great, well placed aid stations and wonderful supportive marshals. Highly recommended.
Simon B-G (Beast of the Beacons 20 Miles 6/04/24)
I have done two events with Limitless Trails now and I can't praise them highly enough. The routes are very well thought out, challenging of course but that's the point. For the price charged, what you get in return is exceptional. If you want to run up some mountains in South Wales, I would urge you to go with these guys.
Robert R (Beast of the Beacons 20 Miles 6/04/24)
I just wanted to say the biggest thank you from the bottom of my heart for your event on Saturday.
Being so new to running (took it up in May last year) I never dare dream that I could do an event like yours. I lack experience but have so much passion that your event gave me the confidence to believe I could do it. I think I said out loud that it was definitely one of the best days of my life!
I felt so supported and everyone was really lovely and friendly let alone how great the signage was (don’t think I ever bothered to look at my watch as there was no need).
Kim Y (Beast of the Blacks 10 Miles 9/03/24)
This race was amazing. An incredible knowledgeable, local team who know the area and the sport, ensure everything you really need is catered for. The course was beautiful, and incredibly challenging.
James M (Beast of the Blacks 40 Miles 9/03/24)
Another amazing race from Limitless! I genuinely believe they are the best race organisers in south wales! Everyone is always so friendly and supportive, a truly 10/10 experience. The route was brutal but beautiful, so scenic and the trails are perfect, both challenging and runable!
Chloe R (Beast of the Blacks 20 Miles 9/03/24)
Done limitless trail events a few times, they are well organised and personal, the team make sure they speak to you individually and make sure your needs are taken care off , the events are challenging and really good that they offer different distances to cater for everyone Feed stations are really well stocked and very friendly Love the finish too, it's like you are the only person to finish the race, which makes you feel special, the medal is lush too
Trudy H (Beast of the Blacks 20 Miles 9/03/24)
Limitless Trails put on a fantastic event for Beast of the Blacks 2024. I signed up after watching a YouTube video about the event and I wasn't disappointed – my smile is real and lasted from start to finish and beyond. The course was so well marked we couldn't even get lost in the fog on the top of the mountain. The crew on the course, in the aid stations and at HQ were friendly, kind and approachable. The aid stations were very well stocked, easy to find and well-placed around the route. The camaraderie of the runners on the day was just incredible, making for a brilliant fun day out. Thank you Limitless Trails!
Anne T (Beast of the Blacks 20 Miles 9/03/24)
Thank you Ellen and the crew for a very memorable day out on the hills ! We bloody loved it ! What you do is just fantastic ..you get a real sense that we have arrived in a real community event , where you all know each other and have a good time organising this event ...and us ...the competitors are welcomed warmly. The course was a dream ...just fantastic ...running trail at last I have entered a few 'trail races' only to be disappointed with forest tracks and large sections of road ..not the case with you guys ! Thank you for taking the effort ...we will be back soon !
Roessa Y (Beast of the Blacks 20 Miles 9/03/24)
A brutal, challenging 40 miles with butt aching elevation and mud galore! It totally lived up to my expectations and what I've come to expect from Limitless Trails. The event organisation, volunteers, signage, checkpoints and food were exceptional. I would definitely recommend this event to anyone wanting to challenge themselves, both physically and mentally. You won't be disappointed, and will be so looked after by Elle and the Team.
Karen W (Beast of the Blacks 40 Miles 9/03/24)
I've done a few events and have been underwhelmed by some other companies with staff, energy or care. I 100% would recommend limitless trails to anyone, I felt welcomed straight out the gate. Kit check, registration & brief were well informed, considerate and humorous with their delivery and information. Everyone was is a genuinely good mood which was very nice before a nervous 20 miles 😂 The send off and welcome had the perfect amount of energy & mood was comfortable at the HQ. I will be booking my next event soon to go back 🙂
Sam H (Beast of the Blacks 20 Miles 9/03/24)
This is my second event with Limitless trails. Ellen and the team are fantastic - the organisation and quality of the event really shines through from the moment you arrive. Yet, somehow they still maintain this excellent homely/family feel which creates such a wholesome atmosphere - from the snacks, to the course to the free photos and - the icing on the cake, the outstanding Welsh mountains. 10/10 guys.
Will M (Beast of the Blacks 20 Miles 9/03/24)
This race was of outstanding quality, being the route, team, checkpoints, morale, and even other course participants. The overall atmosphere of other runners around the course was so uplifting and motivating. I without a doubt would recommend it to any keen runner.
Megan J (Beast of the Blacks 20 Miles 9/03/24)
Such a well organised event, with really good communication beforehand. Super friendly and helpful organisers that made everyone feel like a winner. Really great facilities at the start/finish. Would 100% do another limitless event
Jane S (Beast of the Blacks 20 Miles 9/03/24)
Absolutely love Limitlesstrails events and this was no exception! Lovely staff, brilliantly way marked, fab medal and great atmosphere. I do quite a few different events throughout the year and I always recommend these ones. Really tough course, really challenging and perfect. Thank you!
Loz R-J (Beast of the Blacks 20 Miles 9/03/24)
Always well organised and friendly. Beautiful route, great aid stations and food on return. You always know you’ll have a great time if it’s a limitless event :)
Evangeline B (Beast of the Blacks 10 Miles 9/03/24)
My first Limitless event and I will certainly be back for more - the local knowledge and connection shines through. I really enjoyed the 20-mile Beast of the Blacks race, highlights being a decent, well-marked route, lots of enthusiastic volunteers, approachable RD, really good organisation, nice medal and good food choices at the end. Parking was easy and convenient.
Ian C (Beast of the Blacks 20 Miles 9/03/24)
It was my first time coming to a Limitless Trail race and I wasn’t disappointed. Ellen was extremely helpful and organised with a super team who were very professional and friendly. The route was absolutely stunning… although I had to wait to the reverse loop to see it as there was a lot of clag initially. Steep climbs, tricky descents, long runnable sections. This was everything you could want from a very tough 40 mile ultra. I will definitely be back in the future to race this or another one of the events. Thank you 💪
Jon S (Beast of the Blacks 40 Miles 9/03/24)
Absolutely cracking event. I’ve done lots of ultras and this was one of the best. The course marking was incredible given the first 15km was in the mist and cloud. Great checkpoints and staff were really helpful. Will definitely do it again in the future!
Martin L (Beast of the Blacks 20 Miles 9/03/24)
Ruddy loved my third @limitlesstrails Black Mountains race, this time Beast of Llangatock 50K with 7,000ft vert.
Not only because they kindly gave me a third slate with those pleasing words "1st male" on it. Their races have chortlesome motivational signs, plenty of nosh, are super-friendly and really benefit from local knowledge with some cracking routes, with stiff climbs, glorious views and fun techie bits. The rainbow was especially well placed.
Chuffed with a well-fuelled (ta @veloforte) and consistent effort for the 3x 10-mile loops. I have a thing for looped courses nowadays 😉 (and was listening to the Lionesses).
Limitless have events throughout the year (including September) with a range of distances, plus they make a real effort with waste (no t-shirts, et al – their medals are lovely, but I politely gave this one back).
Kudos to all who made it round and thanks for all the on course vibes.
Damian H (Beast of Llangattock 32 Mile Ultra 12/08/23)
The pre race info was comprehensive, the athletes area was full of nutrition options, the course marking was very thorough and the check points were spot on (the best of any races I’ve been to so far). In particular, all event staff, volunteers and competitors were so passionate and authentic, it added significantly to the experience. In addition to all the above, it was a challenging, varied and beautiful route that provided the perfect backdrop for getting out there, getting stuck in and pushing ourselves. Will 100% be returning for this event and others by Limitless Trails.
Sam V (Beast of Llangattock 20 Mile 12/08/23)
Such a well organised event, very friendly, you are treated as if you are the only runner, feed stations ae really well stocked with awesome food, great volunteers, photographers are really friendly, even the runners who pass you or doing bigger distances are friendly and encouraging. Well layed our course, it would be hard to go the wrong way . Stunning scenery Finish line is well laid out and your made to feel like the first person to cross it, great medals Food and drinks at the end are pllentiful and so good, sandwiches, cakes, chocolate, fruit , loads of different drinks, Have done a number of these runs now and will continue to do so. Thanks everyone
Trudy H (Beast of Llangattock 10 Mile 12/08/23)
Fantastic event from start to finish - well organised and brilliant team supporting on the day. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, as “first timers” we will be booking many more in the future. Thanks to Ellen and the team 😊
Dan L (Beast of Llangattock 20 Mile 12/08/23)
I’ve only done 2 trail events - the other was with a well known company who are big on the socials - won’t name names. However Limitless absolutely blew them out of the water in comparison from the snacks, drinks, friendliness, free photos, massage and generally being a bloody nice bunch of peeps! Will 100% be back time and time again!
Will M (Beast of Llangattock 20 Mile 12/08/23)
This is the third time I have done the BOL and love it. The route is fantastic, so beautiful and so well signposted on what is quite a tricky route to signpost! The organisation is always amazing, the RD & her team so friendly and helpful, event village really well equipped and overall just a brilliant, family friendly event ideal for people really looking to compete or first timers. Well done again Limitless
Josh H (Beast of Llangattock 20 Mile 12/08/23)
Another fantastic event by Limitless Trails. Superb route which made the most of the stunning scenery and terrain. The climbs are killer, the flats are few and the downhills are fast and technical - perfect. On the way up, my mind is saying, ‘never again’ and on the way down, ‘when is the next one?’. As a beginner, I can only marvel at the times that some people manage to complete the course in. The atmosphere was great with an emphasis on looking out for each other. The other runners and marshals were supportive and the fuel supplies were varied and plentiful. I’ve already booked another event for December and this one will be one my list for next year - perhaps two loops this time……. Thanks again to the organisers 👍
Reuben W (Beast of Llangattock 10 Mile 12/08/23)
I’m a mum of 3 young kids, with what I’d describe as modest fitness (started running 3-4x weekly about 18mos ago, coinciding with young kids). Found out about Limitless events on a YouTube review. Signed up for this on a bit of a whim. This course was spectacular - I found the climb challenging but doable without having done any specific hill training, and the views made it all worth it. I was able to walk/run well inside the cutoff time even with spending lots of time taking photos and generally soaking it all in. The course was very well marked and I didn’t need to rely on my watch navigation. The other racers were super friendly and i felt completely welcome as a back-of-packer. The marshals were so cheerful and friendly and I got choked up seeing my home flag 🇨🇦 in the finish chute. 10/10 best trail race I’ve done in my short career. Thank you for some really wonderful memories!
Danielle D (Beast of Llangattock 10 Mile 12/08/23)
Incredible event, the aid stations were stocked to the brim! And the staff were amazing, including the back runners. Will definitely be doing another Limitless event soon
Nathan A (Beast of Llangattock 32 Mile Ultra 12/08/23)
My first Limitless Trails event and it was nothing less than fantastic. From the clear pre race email, that included where I could camp the night before, to where to grab some food. Registration was easy, including a kit check. Perfect briefing meant that it was clear in my mind what lay ahead. A fantastic course with great marshalls and aid stations. I ran with a dog, a useful detour around a high stile was put in, very useful. I will be back for future Limitless Trails
David R (Beast of Llangattock 10 Mile 12/08/23)
This was epic!!! The base camp had absolutely everything and more you could want when you’re super nervous and about to get embark on a race with the word “beast” in it. Registration and kit check was fast and easy, everyone was super friendly, everything you could ask for from course maps, salty pretzels, energy gels to hair ties!!!! Lovely bell tent for my bag drop and portoloos metres away from start line for nervous wees. The check point stations along the route were like Willy wonkas chocolate factory. I wish I hadn’t waited until lap 3 to sample the goods!!!! Course was insane… I did say to Ellen the event organiser that after lap one I thought I had to entered the Berkeley Marathons. Beautiful scenery to make up for the absolute savagery of hills… both up and down! Will definitely be up for another Limitless event… once my legs have forgiven me. Thank you so much!!!!! Amazing medal and super super blown away with a beautiful slate trophy. Would absolutely recommend this event to all runners, from beginners to hardened mentalists X
Chloe W (Beast of Llangattock 32 Mile Ultra 12/08/23)
What can I say except WOW .... I have done many events in my time and truly I love them all, some more than others. But I can honestly say that I totally loved this event . I had been told good things about limitless trail events but didn't believe it could be as good as they say. From the very first moment i spoke to Ellen on the phone to meeting her on the day and the rest of the limitless trails team I was made to feel welcome . What a lovely supportive community they have built .
Kevin M (Tenacious Ten Hour Endurance Challenge 15/07/23)
Another excellent event from Limitless Trails. Perfectly organised, with the most comprehensive course marking I've seen in any trail event. Superb event photography - the best I've experienced - and all available to download for free shortly after the event. This is such a great format. Everyone is completing loops as their own pace, so you see all the other entrants repeatedly at different parts of the course. This makes for a great atmosphere, with everyone cheering on everyone else, regardless of pace and distance. So long as you like your trails absolutely brutal (the distance and vert don't even begin to describe how tough each loop feels), give this event a go. I've done several events with Limitless Trails, and highly recommend them to everyone.
Steve P (Tenacious Ten Hour Endurance Challenge 15/07/23)
Ultras are about being with friendly people. You earn respect for just being there. A warm welcome and a smile, and a genuine one. If you only do a few laps you may not complete an ultra, but the whole event has that really special feel of one. This race has that amazing atmosphere in bucket loads. Elle and the team are so welcoming and supportive, that despite the pre race nerves, it feels homely, relaxed and just a lovely place to be from the off. The race uses the same check point for each loop. I was kinda nervous before doing this race about whether that would want to make me quit after each lap. Quite the opposite. After a lap or two, there were people eating, drinking tea, chatting and smiling, despite some of the worst summer weather for years. This all made it OK to stop and refuel (something I'm bad at and needed to work on), or simply do a quick turn around and feel great for getting back out there while others were resting. In short, if getting 5 seconds extra in a 5K pb is your thing, then this is not your race. Whereas, if you are looking for something special, where you are trying to enjoy the journey of life with some wonderful friendly people, then I would certainly try this race out. The race team are really caring and make you not only feel welcome, but as if they are really there to help you make your day the best it can be. I'll certainly be looking to do this one again next year.
Mark A (Tenacious Ten Hour Endurance Challenge 15/07/23)
Without doubt, the best ultra I have done. Outstanding value. Amazing staff and an owner who genuinely cares about the safety and wellbeing of all the runners. The back runners were also amazing and made us feel that we were capable of completing this challenging ultra. The tagging system was great too meaning friends and family could track our progress. Also got a delicious chilli con carne when finished even if it was 2 AM. Thanks so much Limitless Trails.
Matthew S (Black Mountains 50 Mile Ultra 03/06/23)
Stunning 50-mile route around the beautiful Black Mountains. Definitely up there with the friendliest races I've ever done - everyone was just lovely. Felt so well looked-after by the event crew with a big welcome at the finish line, hot food, free massage etc. Will definitely be back to run other Limitless Trails races and highly recommend this one.
Jen B (Black Mountains 50 Mile Ultra 03/06/23)
First event with Ellen and her fabulous team at Limitless Trails and it definitely won't be my last. Absolutely exceptional event and the team couldn't do enough for you. The route was spectacular, with plenty of good hills, but also some lovely runnable trails with fantastic views of the surrounding area. With the varying distances, there really is something for everyone. If you're thinking of doing an ultra or something a little smaller, I couldn't recommend Limitless Trails enough.
Daniel (Black Mountains 50 Mile Ultra 03/06/23)
Absolutely wonderful day yesterday doing the marathon!!! Will highly recommend your events & definitely do another!! Your help & communication before were spot on- there were a couple of places where you definitely needed the gpx but that’s absolutely 100% as you said it would be & you made it so safe - I ve never done an event with actual trackers before. I d 100% prefer to pay more for entry knowing I have this kind of back up- I m relatively new to navigational stuff & long events & I can’t tell you how confidence building it was seeing how professional & safety conscious you all are. Beautiful scenery too- 360 views of total remote beauty through so much of the route& fabulous friendly marshalling.
Lesley L (Black Mountains Marathon 03/06/23)
Brutal but absolutely beautiful 🤩 super well organised, marshals all super friendly and happy to help, very well looked after at the finish with food and drinks ! 100% recommend , best race ever !
Maisie F (Black Mountains 50 Mile Ultra 03/06/23)
Overall this was a great event. The route across the black mountains had some of the best scenery for trail running! Despite being a self-navigated event the vast majority of the route is easy to follow with a map/gpx. The event organisers and support team were incredibly supportive, they made the event one to remember! Can’t thank them enough! Would highly recommended to anyone looking for an ultra running challenge!
Richard (Black Mountains 50 Mile Ultra 03/06/23)
This was the third time entering this limitless trails event. The first time I did the 50 mile then for the last two years did the marathon route. I have to say Ellen and all her limitless trails people are so friendly and helpful, I have done lots of ultra events over the years and enjoyed them all but Ellen’s personal touch puts these guys on top of the list for me, she pays total attention to beginners or proven athletes and makes you feel part of the limitless trails family. I’d recommend these guys to anyone and the routes she lays out are stunning I will definitely be back for more.
Paul D (Black Mountains Marathon 03/06/23)
Loved this event! An absolutely stunning course and a lovely warm welcome and atmosphere from the organisers, volunteers and fellow competitors at the event HQ. The landscape was breathtakingly beautiful and absolutely perfect for trail running. I was sent all the information needed in advance which explained everything such as necessary kit, parking and route clearly and the course was well marked throughout. I was particularly impressed with their race number recycling scheme too which I’ve not seen done anywhere else before. Will 100% be signing up for more of their events in future, including longer distances for a bigger challenge and to prolong the experience!
Thomas W (Black Mountains 12k 03/06/23)
I did the Black Mountains marathon distance. I have done Limitless Trail events before and keep re-booking because they are so good. Everyone is friendly and helpful. This is the first self nav event I've done with them and the gpx was spot on. Registration was seamless. Aid stations well stocked and friendly. The course was AMAZING. Breathtakingly beautiful and a good mix of testing climbs but also lots of rolling hills. We were fortunate to have perfect weather too. Another fantastic event.
Diane K (Black Mountains Marathon 03/06/23)
The blacks to beacons ultra was my first run in the ultra world, and my first event with limitless trails. From. Arriving I was received well by Ellen and her crew, they were very welcoming and helpful with anything I needed for my first event. The route itself was perfect, well planned and the GPX file worked spot on being incredibly accurate. The feed stations catered for all my needs and the staff were very helpful with anything you needed whilst being motivational and positive about tour progress. The race finish hospitality was great also. And was a moment I will remember forever receiving my medal. I cannot wait to do my next event with you guys.
Joseph P (Blacks to the Beacons 50 Ultra 29/04/23)
This was my first 50 miler and what a 50 miler to start with! The course itself was tough. Really tough. If the first climb right off the start wan't hard enough, the climb out of the second aid station and the climb up Pen y Fan broke me... but that's exactly what I signed up for and I was able to carry on to the end. Absolutely spectacular route, and fantastic views (when I remembered to look up!) Excellent support at the aid stations. Being run in to the aid station before Pen y Fan was such a great feeling. And excellent race directing and support at the start and finish. I felt safe and well looked after. Beer and pizza at the end was hugely appreciated! I'd do this one again, and I'd recommend to anyone who's up for a good challenge on a course that keeps you occupied throughout. Thanks Elle and all the team.
Rhys T (Blacks to the Beacons 50 Ultra 29/04/23)
Wonderful race, very challenging course, organised by people who know their area and have excellent insight into what they are doing. Aid stations are stocked with good choices and there is a wonderful community spirit. I watch the event video afterwards and felt really invested in seeing all the people I had seen on the way round finishing. The course is in a beautiful part of the world and explores a few less well-travelled parts of the area too. Brilliant.
James M (Blacks to the Beacons Half Marathon 29/04/23)
My second event with Limitless Trails and again an awesome day on a spectacular course. Organisation is spot on and the team cannot do enough for you. Probably one of the best trail running companies out there. Can’t wait to go back.
Gary Y (Blacks to the Beacons Marathon 29/04/23)
Thank you for accepting canicross! Not only that but including us with a prize and bandana. Stunning views, Limitless trail events are so well organised, great routes and well marked. A perfect excuse to holiday in Wales!
Catherine W (Blacks to the Beacons 10K 29/04/23)
Comprehensive pre-race information, and organisation on the day was great too. Superb, challenging course with a great mix of terrain, and the marshals and other runners were all friendly and supportive. Aid station/checkpoint was well stocked with a mix of sweet and savory food, and several drink options. More drinks and snacks were available back at the finish venue. Results were posted by the time I'd recovered enough to check, and free, high-quality photos from several points around the course were available within a few days. I've already signed up for another event with Limitless Trails, after such a great day on the hills.
Steve P (Blacks to the Beacons Half Marathon 29/04/23)
This was my first event with Limitless Trails and it won’t be my last. It is clear that all those involved had a passion for the area in which they lived and worked and a passion to allow others to share it. The route was devilishly hard but unlike so many other races had a kind finish! Thankfully the weather was amazing on race day and the scenery over the course was stunning. I felt very lucky being part of it. I must shout out a huge thanks to the marshalls who gave excellent support and of course to Ellen who was brilliant through out. The whole day was perfectly managed and I am looking forward to future challenges by this excellent company.
Richard W (Blacks to the Beacons 50 mile Ultra 29/04/23)
An epic and well thought out route, It all kicks off with a steep climb which chips away at that elevation gain early on with fresh legs before levelling off for some nice running on good trail for a sustained period of time, there is some technical parts under foot which is nice to break up the rhythm a little and some very runnable down hill sections, some of it steep and grassy so good grip will help here. The views are endless the route logical and easy to follow, however this is a self navigation event so being comfortable navigating yourself will help. The support is spot on with good aid stations at sensible points in the race, the RD and crew were fantastic adding to the overall feel of the event. will be back next year for the 50 mile course which has some great climbs included!
Marc W (Blacks to the Beacons Marathon 29/04/23)
My first 50 miler! What an amazing event. All the race team were friendly and helpful and the event was really well organised. The route was really well thought out to give you a spectacular day in the Brecon Beacons. I would definitely recommend limitless trails events.
Helena G (Blacks to the Beacons 50 mile Ultra 29/04/23)
This was my second ultra, but my first Limitless Trails event. It was absolutely outstanding. Elle and the Limitless team do an amazing job of creating challenging events that showcase the best that south Wales has to offer, whilst also making it a supportive and fun atmosphere. I’d recommend taking on a Limitless Trails event to anyone. It’ll be hard - no doubt about that. Halfway up one of the hills you’ll probably question why the hell you signed up. But once you cross that finish line, you’ll understand why. Thank you Elle and all the volunteers!
Will S (Blacks to the Beacons 50 mile Ultra 29/04/23)
The Beast of Blacks delivered on so many levels (no pun intended!) . A challenging course over incredible scenery with lots of elevation. With really generous cut off times and the course marked out so well the strain was off the competitors to navigate and to simply run and enjoy the great outdoors. There were lots of technical aspects to the run over different terrains. There was no avoiding wet and muddy feet (and possible other parts of the body) The aid stations were well stocked and manned - the volunteers were really friendly and helpful. A great bucket list event
Aly W (Beast of the Blacks 20 mile 11/03/23)
Fantastic run event, despite some adverse weather leading up to the Event. All the staff and volunteers were fantastic and the course was tough but well mapped out and easy to follow!
Robert B (Beast of the Blacks 40 mile 11/03/23)
Elle and the team were incredibly helpful. Happy to chat through any aspect of the race at registration. The race itself was incredible and everyone was super supportive throughout from the volunteers at the aid stations to the photographers. I will definitely be registering for limitless races in the future and returning to complete the 40m beast of the blacks.
Richard E (Beast of the Blacks 20 mile 11/03/23)
A fantastic course with a great mix of tough climbs, technical sections, quiet lanes and above all, outstanding scenery. The organisers certainly know what they are doing: well spaced aid stations, plenty of medics available, and a great finish area (hot food and great selection of food, attentive marshals making endless cups of tea and massage available!) This is not necessarily an easy course, but certainly a do-able due to the level of support and encouragement from the organisers. Great for seasoned runners as well as those looking to challenge themselves - all will get a sense of achievement.
Lizzie G (Beast of the Blacks 40 mile 11/03/23)
Beast of the Blacks is known for being challenging - mainly because of the 1400+m of elevation but its all manageable if you take it steadily and respect the course. This time the weather was "interesting", with cold temperatures, and snow as an added bonus. The course is beautiful and very varied. Course marking is exceptionally good - blue flags to show where to go and - importantly - red flags to show where not to go. Makes all the difference. Great aid stations, marshals and overall support at the event start point and a quality medal. Thoroughly recommended.
Simon B (Beast of the Blacks 20 mile 11/03/23)
This was my 1st ultra and what a great one to choose. Fantastic scenery and what a treat to experience it in the snow even with the challenging underfoot conditions. This is a tough race but achievable and a great sense of achievement. The organisers and volunteers are super friendly and the organisation and way-marking is spot on. It was a sociable race particularly on the 2nd lap when there were fewer of us and we were suffering more! It was nice to run the last 10k with a small friendly group as it was dark by then. A very warm welcome and a fantastic bowl of chilli at the finish…and 2nd place v50! Will definitely run again.
Michael B (Beast of the Blacks 40 mile 11/03/23)
This race is incredible. It felt so special being able to share it with my best buddy (the dog). Really inclusive race and all the organisers were so helpful and nice. Highly recommend this to anyone just starting or wanting a super chilled but exciting race.
Kathryn C (Beast of the Blacks 20 mile 11/03/23)
A great 20m race and challenging route. Registration, course conditions advice, checkpoints, course nav, photographer and finish were all great thanks Limitless
Warwick T (Beast of the Blacks 20 mile 11/03/23)
First mountain trail for us, we were all quite scared especially given the snow and weather forecast. Then I discovered the beauty of trail runs: you don’t have to actually run on the uphill! So really it’s like walking in the mountains except you get to run on the downhills - which was an absolute JOY. I loved the snow, the views, running in the little stream, seeing the white sheep and lambs in the white snow… At one point my knee started to be really painful so I stopped at the checkpoint, they looked after me really well and then the medics drove me back to camp like a Princess - slightly embarrassing but excellent care. I think we just stressed too much beforehand, also in the brief we were told the signs had perhaps all disappeared so we might get lost, the weather conditions were said to be “brutal”… when actually it would have been impossible to get lost and all was easy and fun so there was no need to be so worried and stressed. I suppose you can’t have people too relaxed either. All elements of the long kit list were needed so that was good planning. In a word: I’m up for more trail runs! Also: the village hall which is the base camp is heated!!! Bliss!!! Usually my previous events started from a tent (or just wait outside) but a heated hall is just wonderful!! That could be advertised more : ) made all the difference. Nice food too.
Estelle B (Beast of the Blacks 20 mile 11/03/23)
Due to the weather I wasn't looking forward to this run, was worried about the conditions, shouldn't have worried it was amazing as long as you are well prepared no need to be concerned, 20 miles was a great distance as no real cut off, scenery is outstanding, the course lives up to its name, Beast, but what a challenge, can't wait to return next year to do it all again , feed stations are well stocked and very friendly marshalls, when you finish you are made to feel you were the only one running , so well looked after and the end feed station was great, great atmosphere I've done 2 of these events and will definitely try another later in the year Thanks
Trudy H (Beast of the Blacks 20 mile 11/03/23)
Fantastic organisers, very well signposted route (despite the snow!), beautiful course - couldn’t ask for more. Elle & the whole team at Limitless Trails are so friendly, accommodating, cheerful and helpful. Always send out detailed & informative pre race instructions, provide a good race HQ and then post race results/photographs etc. Really couldn’t ask for any more from an organiser or event perspective. Would highly recommend all of Limitless’ events.
Josh H (Beast of the Blacks 20 mile 11/03/23)
Wonderful, beautiful event in the mountains. The team did everything they could to keep us running despite the snowy conditions, including allowing 40 milers to have flexibility to switch to 20 miles at any point in their first lap. The back runners did a great job of keeping everyone safe. I ran with my dog and she was made incredibly welcome with water and bonios at the finish line. It was a great event - thank you Elle and the team
Sarah S (Beast of the Blacks 10 mile 11/03/23)
As my first ever trail run (and my first ever competitive run) Beast of the Blacks 10 mile was both a serious challenge and an inspiring achievement! I was very impressed by the organisation, I felt safe and confident despite my inexperience.
Tessa H (Beast of the Blacks 10 mile 11/03/23)
Fantastic trail race. Really tough but very well organised. Brilliantly marked course, beautiful scenery, great atmosphere. All in all, highly recommended - you will struggle to find a better race!
Loz R (Beast of the Blacks 20 mile 11/03/23)
This was a beautiful, tough course. The organisation and communication was spot on and the atmosphere was very friendly. It was extremely well marked. Looking forward to doing it again next year.
Josie N (Beast of the Blacks 40 mile 11/03/23)
Ellen and her team are exceptional. Limitless by name and limitless by nature. By far the friendliest, best organised and well stocked race we’ve taken part in. The post race food (40 milers only), cooked by Ellen, was amazing and so welcome. Icing on the cake was the enthusiasm the team showed in helping us get out of the car park. Nothing is too much for Limitless Trails. Thanks Team, we had a great day.
Martin F (Beast of the Blacks 40 mile 11/03/23)
Loved the day, grinned all the way round! Wonderful atmosphere, stunning with the snow, if muddy and slippy on the way down. Running a challenge with friends and like minded people, in stunning countryside with all elements thrown at you, what's not to love?! Thank you Limitless Events.
Zoe G (Beast of the Blacks 20 mile 11/03/23)
Just a quick message of heartfelt thanks to you and your team for looking after me so well at the end of the event on Saturday. I was the guy feeling nauseous coming off the ultra. Putting me up with a bed certainly helped for a very speedy recovery by morning.
You really have a special team and event. Please extend my thanks to all involved.
Nick (Beacons to the Blacks 50 mile Ultra 17/09/22)
Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure to run Limitless Trails’ 50 mile event, the Beacons to the Blacks. A gruelling but stunning route with huge climbs and descents. So well supported with 4 great aid stations (boiled potatoes, melon and tea all served me very well). I picked up a niggle along the way and the race physio and medics were superb at fixing me up and giving me the remedial help needed to get me home. Couldn’t be happier to finish joint overall 1st with the wonderful Ceri. Go girls!!!
Limitless Trails put on fantastic events catering for all distances and abilities with exceptional support. Trail running doesn’t get any better, 360° views the whole way round of the beautiful Welsh mountains
Una (Beacons to the Blacks 50 mile Ultra 17/09/22)
I just wanted to pass on my thanks to you and all of your team for a fantastic day out yesterday on the Beacons to Blacks Ultra.
From start to finish your event was a delight. Fabulous catering, slickly organised, cheerful and welcoming at every stage, both yourself and all your helpers couldn't have been more hospitable.
It was an outstanding route with amazing scenery, which was without a doubt hard enough to take me out of my comfort zone and provide a real challenge, whilst still being achievable and leaving me wanting to come back for more.
Thanks again and I look forward to running with you again in the future.
Paul (Beacons to the Blacks 50 mile Ultra 17/09/22)
I just wanted to thank you and the team for Saturday's event.
We absolutely loved the course.
We would also like to thank you for everything you did for us after we finished and for the hospitality you've shown us on both the events we’ve been fortunate to take part in.
Richie (Beacons to the Blacks 50 mile Ultra 17/09/22)
Just wanted to say thanks for a great event last weekend. I did the 10 mile, thought the course marking was excellent, briefing clear and safety of runners was at the forefront on such a hot day. Thoroughly enjoyed it, watermelon a hit!! Was so happy to be back on my feet. Thanks 🙂
Estelle (Beast of Llangattock 10 miles 13/08/22)
Thanks to the wonderful @limitlesstrails for putting on such a tough race with a top notch finish (basically a full on banquet, massage, beds and bonfire 🔥)
.
If you are looking for a friendly mountain race take a look at their website.
- Holly (Black Mountains Marathon 11/6/22)
I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and the team for last week, for all the help you gave personally to me after the race ( and I needed it) and for making my wife feel so welcome.
The support at the check points etc was second to none and you have a great enthusiastic team which obviously reflects on your passion.
The course is brutal but amazing and I reckon you would be hard pressed to find a better panorama .
- Sam (Black Mountains 50M Ultra 11/6/22)
I just wanted to say a big thank you for the race at the weekend! My first ultra and I was so well looked after.
You, Stu and the rest of the team did an amazing job. No idea how you organised so many races at once. And the team were so great, and the CP volunteers. Amazing.
Thank you for such a great introduction to the mysterious world of ultra running. I’ll be back, but hopefully a bit faster next time.
All the very best with Limitless Trails.
- Lindsey (Blacks to the Beacons 30/4/22)
I wanted to write and say thank you very much for organising an epic event.
I really appreciated all the assistance from all the checkpoints sticking around to support us slower walkers but would like to highlight those at Checkpoint 3 who really made us laugh and couldn’t do enough for us!
Big thanks to the photographer who we saw multiple times throughout the day with his cheery demeanour offering words of encouragement – much appreciated and memorable!
Big thank you to the medics who we saw multiple times in the latter stages of the event – they were super helpful and obviously going above and beyond…
I was definitely in an altered state of consciousness by the finish and really appreciated you coming out to walk the last few hundred metres in with us…
Also – what a medal – by far and away best looking medal I have ever been given – now pride of place!
Thanks again
- Simon (Blacks to the Beacons 30/4/22)
Thank you Limitless Trails for organising this event and for the fantastic support you and the team provided through duration. Fantastic course, people, and a truly wonderful experience. Thank you!!!!
- David (Blacks to the Beacons 30/4/22)
Thanks for a cracking day on the hills (I was one of the last two in). For a first Ultra it was an awesome experience and even at 51 reminds me just how hard you can dig in if you refuse to give in.
Great scenery, really well organised, and we will be back. Cheers again!
- Craig (Blacks to the Beacons 30/4/22)
Hi guys just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the organisers and people involved in the Blacks to the Beacons event. I "managed" to complete the half yesterday.
What i thought was truly lovely at the end when everyone clapped you in, that was a beautiful touch and i felt overwhelmed. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful, the course was amazing and well marked. I totally underestimated the inclines and now understand why Ellen recommended I train running downhill, that proved to be a difficult part of the run for me especially on that last descent when my legs were cramping at every opportunity. Thank you for a wonderful experience in a stunning area of the world 🙏🏻
- Mark (Blacks to the Beacons 30/4/22)
“Just wanted to say that the whole weekend has left quite a legacy with all of us. Looks likely that we'll definitely be up for the 20 next year at least, and we are looking at other events possibly this year too amongst a pretty hectic schedule.
Just loved the way we were looked after, and that is testament to yourself. From the support at the aid stations, the markings, the others that helped you on the day and of course all your efforts. Through experience with other organisers, you are taking all this in the right direction. So keep doing exactly the same 👍.”
— Lee (Beast of the Beacons 16/4/22)
“A massive thanks to all the team at Limitless Trails for an unforgettable event. I have competed in quite a few trail marathons and this was by far the best organised, the best food stations, the best way-marked course and absolutely the best scenery.
I will be back next year with contributions to the after-race food…”
— Sean (Beast of the Beacons 16/4/22)
“I just wanted to say a big thank you for deferring my entry on a few occasions and to say that I finally managed to take part in the Beast of the Blacks 20 mile race on Saturday.
What a fantastic course and event and so well run although the last 3 miles nearly killed me 🤣🤣.
I will definitely be back at other events you run in the future.”
— Andrew (Beast of the Blacks 28/3/22)
“Wanted to thank and congratulate you and your team on a brilliant event. Well organised, great atmosphere, beautiful diverse challenging route and very grateful for the superb weather!”
— David (Beast of the Blacks 28/3/22)
“While I did speak to you yesterday at the end of the yesterday's ultra (and boy, were my legs hurting... who came up with that evil route?) to express my thanks for organising a really great event, I just wanted to reiterate how professional, friendly and slick it all was compared to some (all?) of the other events I've attend... and thank god for the portaloos! Well done, I'll definitely try to enter some more of your events idc.”
— Gareth (Beast of the Blacks 28/3/22)
“I am just letting you know how much Abbey and I loved your event on 18th Sept. It was great to do an event in such a relaxed atmosphere. Most of the stuff I do is always a massive race against the cut offs. It felt like having a massive safety net around us with the long cut offs and the lovely back runners to help prevent navigation mistakes.
The support from all the lovely Check point staff was second to none, including all the cow Bell ringing! That certainly gave us a boost! The end of the race was really memorable. It was in sharp contrast to some of the events I have done, trying to get out of wet clothes in the corner of a cold marquee and people dismantelling the race HQ around me!!
Abbey and I will definitely be recommending Limitless Trail events to our friends. The maps you gave us at the start were really good too. I had drawn the map on an OS map, but yours' were much better. None of the events I have ever done have given us hard copies of maps before.
Having an event with camping at the start is fantastic. It makes an event weekend so much more affordable. It also takes the pressure off finding accommodation, transport to the start and parking whilst doing the event!”
— Deborah & Abbey (50 Mile Ultra 18/9/21)
